Arcade Redemption – Finally Released via Steam

Let’s talk for a minute about a game called Arcade Redemption (Link opens Steam Store Page in a new tab or window).

This game is a brand new game that got its release via Steam today. It’s been on my wishlist for a couple of years now and there’s a little bit of history attached to that. Let’s dive in and take a look. The game itself is listed on Steam and the description has the following to say about it:

Be prepared to put your skills and reflexes to the test in the ultimate rock and roll arcade experience! With a plethora of highly detailed physics-based redemption games inspired by real world classics, you will quickly amass a fistful of tickets redeemable for fabulous prizes and collectibles to fill you house. Play your way, rock your way, and let the tickets roll!

Strategy
You will need to develop a strategy on which games to play according to your current stats. Most games reward you with tickets, but others tokens or cash. So finding a balance is key to managing your token and cash flow to keep you in the action and winning tickets.

Powerups
A small cash investment at the vending machine allows you to double ticket payout values on all games for a limited duration. This can be renewed infinitely throughout the game, provided you have the cash.

Jukebox
An arcade would not be complete without the right music to set the tone. Choose from over 25 looping tracks from the game library or use the in-game web browsing feature and connect to your favorite media sources such as Youtube etc and rock out your way without having to open extra windows on your desktop.

So from that we can deduct that the game is an Arcade style physics-based game full of different redemption style games. You know when you go to an arcade these days and instead of playing with money you play with tokens, and instead of winning money you win.. tickets, yep that’s the kind of game this is. Now had this have arrived sooner when nobody was allowed to go outside, that might have been a good plan, but game development is hard. – I wouldn’t know, I am not a developer, but I would imagine things are tough out there for developers all the same. Lets take a look at some screenshots from Steam and get into it more below.

Back in December 2020 after having the game on my wishlist since.. I cannot find the exact date but somewhere after September 2020, (which is only from a tweet) [EDIT: Found it, looks like it was the 16th September 2020, see here]. After a couple of months of silence from the Developer via Steam, (by Silence I mean the Steam page was launched so the game could be wishlisted, but no interaction with potential customers etc), I decided to make a post and question the lack of interaction via the Steam page, my post said:

Fast forward some 3+ months down the line and a response was posted to the Steam Community thread saying:

Which is absolutely fair enough, and I did find out other ways of asking questions of the Developer of this game. But I have to say, putting in that extra step of effort when there are perfectly good lines of communication built directly into Steam as a platform, that effort isn’t something that everybody interested in the title may do. It’s a risk, and sure, perhaps it was worth it. It’s not likely to be something that we ever get to know. I replied again the next day via Steam:

To which so far, here in July 2021, no further reply has been received. But that’s ok, as the Developer states, they chose to use other platforms to communicate upon. The other platform I found them on was Twitter, and to be completely fair I didn’t look any further than that. I tweeted to the Developer on the 7th April 2021 which you can see here, so perhaps it was my tweet that sparked the Developer to check the Steam Community forums, as the reply there was dated the 11th April 2021.

Moving forward from past mistakes to something more positive, on the 2nd July 2021 we discovered that the game was now ready for Steam to do its review process on the game and then a tweet on the 6th July saying the release date had been set! Positive vibes!

And better still we got a Release Trailer:

So without further delay, let’s get on with it then…

Once I’ve given this game a good try I will upload some gameplay with some of my thoughts on it and if we like it perhaps even a little bit of a review or a comparison to other games of this nature which are already available here on Steam. I’d like to congratulate the Developer for getting their game from the concept and ideas in their head to being a physical product available for purchase via Steam. I have been looking forward to this for some time now and I really, really hope it doesn’t disappoint.

Watch this space for more.
